As a collective, our Roopu Taumata bring Māori and Pacific cultural wisdom. Their seeds of kai (knowledge), along with their vast community connections and experience, like a paddle on our waka, guiding us forward as we negotiate the waters of industry and trades, enabling our movements.
With each wave pushing us forward, our gaze towards the stars as we make our way on our journey guided by the thoughts of our whānau, communities, hapū and iwi deeply rooted in our hearts and minds, we are guided by our Roopu Taumata.
Like a korowai hand woven from muka fibre, hukahuka and kiwi feathers, each member of our Roopu Taumata bring their whakairo nui (wisdom), their own unique essence and energy, their own ārahi to Tai Tokerau Trades Training.
Hurihia to aroaro ki te ra tukuna to atarangi
kia taka ki muri i a koe.
Turn your face to the sun
and the shadows fall behind you.
Na te whakarongo me te titiro ka puta mai te
korero.
Through looking and
listening we gain wisdom.

Kia hora te marino, Kia whakapapa
pounamu te moana, kia tere te
Kārohirohi i mua i tōu huarahi.
May the calm be widespread, may
the ocean glisten like a gemstone,
may the shimmer of light dance
across your path.
